Rotation of the distal phalanx

The term is used to describe when the pedal bone separates from the dorsal hoof wall due to laminitis, resulting in the bone rotating around the distal interphalangeal joint (DIP) joint. In extreme cases the pedal bone can penetrate through the sole.
